Welcome to the Diabeast Barbell Club! We are now an official USA Weightlifting Club and we have a certified USAW coach, John Wheatley. John, our lead coach, has Type 1 diabetes, hence the name of the club. John is a role model for those living with this T1D that nothing is impossible. Living with type 1 diabetes does require a lot of added responsibility, yes, but with this you CAN perform to any level and achieve any life goals you have.
Our Olympic Weightlifting program is designed to prepare athletes for the sport of weightlifting in a safe and effective training system designed to build technique and strength over time and to a peak at specific times close to competitions. YES, we want to send members to actual competitions. The programming philosophy of the Diabeast Barbell Club is hard work, proper recovery, and pushing the body just enough to realize its potential. Folks who train at Diabeast Barbell Club get strong, fast and have fun all at the same time. We have programs for beginners to advanced weightlifters.
